DIgSILENT publishes EMT simulation benchmark in cooperation with SMA Solar Technology AG

SMA Solar Technology AG, headquartered in Germany, is a manufacturer of inverters for grid-connected photovoltaic systems and battery inverter systems (BESS).

In the past, SMA developed Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) models for its inverter systems based on the PSCAD platform. In 2021, a PowerFactory version of this model was introduced.

DIgSILENT Pacific took this as an opportunity to conduct a comprehensive comparison of the two EMT inverter models – with very good results. It was found that although the two models are structured differently, they differ only marginally in terms of their most important features and functions.
