Significant developments in PowerFactory 2026 include:
-
Numerous performance-related developments to deliver faster response when handling big networks and large quantities of data, and to reduce calculation times
-
A new Impedance-Based Stability Analysis function, part of the Small Signal Stability Analysis module, to allow the stability of single or multiple inverter-based resources connections to be assessed in the frequency domain
-
For EMT simulations, the introduction of parallelisation based on automatic or user-configured network partitioning, leading to much improved calculation times
-
Many developments to Modelica hybrid modelling in PowerFactory, introducing new features and improving model execution efficiency and reliability
-
For Contingency Analysis, the introduction of validity periods for fault cases and remedial action schemes
-
Extensions to the DC Short-Circuit Calculation to support short circuits between two DC terminals, as used for the two-terminal battery model and bipolar HVDCs
-
Updated and improved Time-Distance and Short-Circuit Sweep plots
-
For users of CIM/CGMES, introduction of a new CSA (Coordinated Security Analysis) profile option, to support the implementation of data exchange for Regional Operational Security Coordination and Cost Sharing processes
-
Extension to line couplings, allowing users to model coupling between overhead lines and underground cables, as well as other structures such as metallic pipes
-
For multi-section lines, availability of loadings of the individual line sections, both graphically and in the Network Model Manager
With the new features in the PowerFactory 2026 Preview Version, we continue the process of enhancement and development which ensures that PowerFactory remains the ideal tool for a wide range of network planning and operational studies, from small micro-grids to large transmission and distribution networks, including HVDC and renewable technologies.
The PowerFactory 2026 Preview Version is available on the DIgSILENT website, , to companies with valid maintenance or subscription, on the Download Area section for registered users.
Please be aware that this preview version is for your interest and feedback only; the official release is expected in February 2026.
We wish you continued success with DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
Support of previous versions:
DIgSILENT will actively continue to support the two previous versions PowerFactory 2025 and 2024. Following the formal release, we will officially discontinue support of the preceding version PowerFactory 2023 and will not provide any further service packs for this former version.
