Where can I find a TCR (Thyristor Controlled Reactor) for Load-flow and EMT simulations?

Answer

The best option is to model the TCR using a SVC model and setting the number of capacitors to zero, as shown in attached example.

In order to analyze the harmonic distortion of the current using EMT simulation, the SVS element has to be set to ’TCR Model = Thyristor’ on its EMT simulation page. Then the TCR will not produce an ideal sinusoidal waveform in the current but a distorted current, which is not ideal. Harmonics will appear in the FFT-Plot of the current, which are the 5th and 7th, 11th and 13th, 17th and 19th, etc.
