How do you model a variable resistance to consider soil ionisation in lightning transient EMT simulations?

Dynamic Simulation
Answer

Variable resistances can be modelled with the ElmSind. The grounding impedance represents a single phase model. Thus, the ElmSind is modelled as single phase element.

The single Rin of the ElmSind is controlled by a common model during the EMT simulation. The variable resistance is calculated based on the current flowing through the ElmSind according to the references that are documented on the description page of the dynamic.

The attached example includes as ElmSind for soil ionisation modelling
