Answer

The Cable Sizing can determine cables types to fulfill different constraint requirement that can be set in the Cable Sizing command (loading, voltage drop/rise, …).

The calculation is done with the load flow command in the current network state. Usually, different operation scenarios need to be investigated to determine the needed cable types (with an appropriate cross section).

For this use case the Task Automation can be used to execute the Cable Sizing calculation for several study cases. By doing this the determined cable types can fulfill the constraint requirement for each investigated case.

In the attached example this calculation is shown:

  • In folder “0 Base Case”, study cases can be found that contain the network state before the cable reinforcement by the Cable Sizing. A consumption as well as a production case is prepared.
  • In folder “1 Cable Sizing”, study cases for the production and consumption case can be found after the cable sizing was executed. Lines that were reinforced are highlighted in each case.
  • In folder “2 Cable Sizing – Both Cases”, the Task Automation was prepared in a way that the cable sizing was calculated for both study cases (production and consumption). The results from both calculations were saved in the variation “Cable Reinforcement”.
