Answer

The Cable Ampacity calculation can be used in PowerFactory to precisely calculate the rating of a cable. It can only be executed when the geometrical data of a cable is defined by the use of a cable system type (TypCabsys). The definition if a cable system includes its geometry, the properties of the conducting, semi-conducting and insulating layers and installation characteristics (i.e. buried directly in ground, in a pipe).

The general line type (TypLne) which defines the cable in terms of its electrical data cannot be used in the Cable Ampacity Calculation. For a simplified determination of the derating factor the Cable Sizing (according to International Standards) can be used.

In the attached document you can find the different configurations to model cables in PowerFactory along with the corresponding calculation to determine the rating of a cable.
